While the existence of my mother in my life is natural,it is mystical
Since it was only the two of us at home, unconsciously I observed her behavior, beliefs and tastes.
Her daily existence was one rooted in work and caring for her nest. Her adolescence was spent in the 70's,
shi raised me in the80's and 90's and now she'experiencing life again in the present.
Over the years she steadily acquired the distinct values that have molded her into the person she is today.
Through observing my mother,I developed an interest in photographing the middle-aged women of
her generation who are now in their forties and late fifties.
What I experienced through this project was not only their exterior world of hobbies, home decor,
and fashion, but also the buried trace of their beauty and their hidden desire for self-expression quenched
by going on stage in front of the camera. They live in soap opera-like sanctuaries reminiscing their youth.
This book presents the shape of their sanctuaries in everyday life.
This statement is from a Tokyo soap opera.
